A Few Characters I’d Love To See In Smash!

Super Smash Bros. 5 is rumored to be an entirely new game for the Nintendo Switch, and if that is true, I hope we get to see many of the changes and improvements and perhaps start seeing character reveal trailers to fuel the hype train all over again. We already know that the Inklings will join in on the fight, but who else will smash their way in? GameInformer has already done their suggestions among many others, so why not add to the conversation? Here are a few of my character ideas…

First on my list is Alm from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden. I know that there are a good number of representatives already for this franchise and he would be another fighter with a sword, but I still think it would be a great idea to invite him over. His moves could be diversified due to how he can use a bow after his class promotions and special abilities like the Double Lion would make for an awesome Final Smash, K’O-ing everyone off the stage.

I could even see a situation where Alm could switch to Celica back and forth like Zelda could with Sheik back in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Celica can play differently than Robin with her own spells. At different damage percentages or well-made combos, they could even throw in occasional voice clips of them supporting or being concerned for each other like they did in Echoes. This is of course unlikely, but you never know.

The reason for this choice is because I think Nintendo didn’t really advertise enough for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, which is a great Nintendo 3DS game in my opinion that deserves more love. Between Alm and Celica, I mainly selected Alm because he is more of the main character throughout most of the story and I think people would generally connect and relate to him more.

Next up is Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U. This would probably not happen since the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the Nintendo Switch, making its main characters, Rex and Pyra, the most relevant right now from Monolith Soft. However, she could do a lot with all of her weapons and skills.

It would be amazing to have her Skell included in her moveset or at least used for her Final Smash like how Fox can summon his Arwing. Wario can bring his motorcycle as a side special, so why not throw in a giant mech into the mix? The only concern would be that it would be too large to drive around, but at the same time I think it could still work somehow.

I remember watching this suggested video on YouTube about how Elma could fight in Super Smash Bros.. While I was looking for that one, there were other cases being made for her and why she should be featured in the roster. I think it’s interesting, so be sure to check it out from YouTuber¬†Delzethin.

Last but not least, Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog series would make for a unique third-party character to have alongside Sonic in Super Smash Bros. 5 due to how he could be a light fighter like Kirby while using his technological edge. He is one of the most recognizable and popular sidekicks in the gaming industry, so I think many would be open to the idea.

His moveset could be filled with references across multiple games, including main series entries, spin-offs, and crossovers. Teaming up with the alien race called Wisps for power-ups from Sonic Colors, for example, would be a nice throwback for either Tails or Sonic. Vehicles, especially the famous Tornado, should be at least included in his Final Smash, which could be similar to Solid Snake’s target practice in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Admittedly, I haven’t played any of the newer Sonic games lately since they have been poorly rated and received from both fans and critics. I would love for them to make a comeback, and this would help bring the franchise back into the spotlight.

That’s all I got for now! I hope you enjoyed reading and have a great day!
