Review(s): Fire Emblem Fates

Published December 22, 2016 by Amanda B. Greene

Fire Emblem Fates is the latest game in the Fire Emblem series that came out in February 2016 for the United States. It is a tactical, turn-based role-playing game. I meant to have my review done sooner, but it just took me awhile to beat the games. In Fire Emblem Fates, all three paths are fun to play and have something special going for each. I think my favorite out of the three is between Conquest and Revelations… sorry Hoshido. Anyways, Fire Emblem Fates is another great addition to the Fire Emblem series with its unique approach that is worth playing.

Why Kid Icarus Uprising Should Get A Sequel

The Kid Icarus series didn’t see the light of day for twenty years till Kid Icarus Uprising came out in 2012. Now it’s 2016 and Nintendo hasn’t done anything since besides including Dark Pit and Palutena as new playable characters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS which released in 2014. While Kid Icarus Uprising wasn’t perfect, I think it’s one of the best 3DS games. Pit would be great to include in the initial lineup of titles for the “NX” when it arrives for many reasons.

Some Thoughts On Xenoblade Chronicles X…

Published May 24, 2016 by Amanda B. Greene

XenobladeChroniclesX

The last time I talked about Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U, I gave it a review and you can read it right here. It wasn’t as great as I was hoping for it to be, but maybe that is partly due to having high expectations since I really enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles. However, the game wasn’t terrible either. For me, XCX is in the odd middle ground of sorts overall. In this article, I’ll be talking more depth about what worked and didn’t.

There will be some spoilers here for both XCX and XC if you read more, you have been warned.

Review: Child of Light

Child of Light was the game-of-the-year in 2014 for many it seems, and I’m late to the party. I beat it recently and I truly enjoyed almost everything about it. The story and characters are good, suiting the fairytale theme. The music was alright, the song in the end credits and the main battle theme stood out. Beauty is clearly the focus point of this game because the art is amazing. I recommend Child of Light, whether it’s at full price or at a discount on occasion. Read the rest of this entry →

Last Super Smash Bros. Direct Recap!

Published December 16, 2015 by Amanda B. Greene

Hey guys, I know it’s been a long time since I’ve last blogged on here and I apologize for that. Anyways, yesterday Nintendo had their final Direct for Super Smash Bros. and it was shocking and awesome! New fighters, Corrin and Bayonetta, were announced and are to be released sometime in February. There was also more information on Cloud and his stage and he is available right now. And who could forget about new Mii Fighter costumes?

I’m a huge fan of Fire Emblem and I also enjoyed Bayonetta 1 and 2, so I’m more than excited to eventually play them both. What did you think of the video? You can listen to the GameXplain discussion of it here. To check out the artwork for the new characters from the official Super Smash Bros. website… Read the rest of this entry →

First Impressions: The Wonderful 101

Published September 23, 2015 by Amanda B. Greene

I’m sorry that this took so long to post, I haven’t been able to get into The Wonderful 101. My first impressions are not so good. I played for a few hours or so, but stopped for a while. I didn’t get very far in the story – mainly due to my frustration with the controls. The humor is okay though, the jokes got a few laughs out of me here and there. I’ll eventually dive into it more, but it’s just not appealing to me. It only makes me want to play Bayonetta (also made by Platinum Games) more with its perfect polish.

Not everything is bad about it… like I make it seem. It’s just has a steep learning curve with the controls and the camera angles/lack of zoom don’t help at all. I like the funny premise of typical, old superheroes, reminding me of The Incredibles in a way. To read more… Read the rest of this entry →
