Special: The Atmosphere Of Monster Hunter World

Published April 14, 2018 by Amanda B. Greene

For my birthday on April 6th, I was gifted with Monster Hunter World for the PS4 and I have been enjoying it ever since, playing it whenever I get the chance.

Instead of doing another “First Impressions,” I thought about how it would be interesting to talk about how Capcom was successful in creating a certain feel or atmosphere that engages players to get excited about hunting giant monsters. So, here we are at the Canteen… let’s get started.

First Impressions: Okami HD

Published April 9, 2018 by Amanda B. Greene

Okami HD is a high-definition remaster of a classic that was originally released on the Playstation 2. I will be talking about the Playstation 4 version, but you can also get the game on Microsoft Windows and Xbox One right now. Over the summer, you will also be able to play it on the Nintendo Switch. Okami is considered to be one of the best video games of all time due to its critical acclaim and artistic expression.

I am a few hours or so into the game now and I agree that it is great, especially for its timeless art style resembling what is called ink wash painting through cel-shading. If you’re interested, click the link to learn more.

Review: Persona 5

Published May 16, 2017 by Amanda B. Greene

Persona 5 is a fantastic Japanese, turn-based role-playing game that builds up from previous installments of the Persona franchise. Almost everything about it is well done from the story and characters to the environments and puzzles. Some things could be improved on or changed like how you’re forced to go to sleep after diving into the Palaces or Mementos. I got the “Take Your Heart” special edition right when it released because I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time among the Persona fans. I feel like I’m almost towards the end of the game, but I won’t say any spoilers.

First Impressions: Helldivers

Published March 26, 2015 by Amanda B. Greene

Helldivers is a challenging game to master. You typically wouldn’t think that a top-down shooter would be all that complicated, but it actually is. There are a lot to the controls, but once you mostly get the hang of inputting commands with the directional pad, you’ll be all set there. But it’s actually all about the teamwork, especially considering the friendly fire. It’s addictive, and surprisingly strategic, fun to have with friends and family as you fight for Super Earth. Special: Which PS4 Game Are You Looking Forward To The Most?

Published March 2, 2015 by Amanda B. Greene

The Playstation 4 has a large list of video games coming out, many that push gamers to jump to the next (current?) generation. I look forward to seeing how all of them turn out, even though I don’t have a PS4. Hopefully my brother will let me play on his. Anyways, here is my top five: Read the rest of this entry →
